Plane Skids Off Runway At Rome Airport

A plane has skidded off the runway at Rome's Fiumicino airport after its landing gear malfunctioned during a thunderstorm.
Officials said there were around 10 people who suffered "light injuries" and were treated by medical staff at the airport, according to the ANSA news agency.
The plane, an Airbus A320 belonging to flagship carrier Alitalia, had flown from Madrid with 151 passengers on board.
It came to rest on its side near the runway.
The pilot realised as he was coming in that the plane's right wheels had failed to deploy and he warned air traffic control ahead of time, ANSA said.
The plane then toppled on its right wing during landing and could be seen on its side near the runway.
The national air transport safety agency has opened an investigation into the incident, and officers have been sent to examine the plane.

Nicki Minaj faces another nip-slip by flashing her boobs in THAT top on Ellen

She exposed a hint of nipple when she was papped in a VERY revealing outfit earlier in the week.
And Nicki Minaj very nearly had another wardrobe malfunction when she appeared on the Ellen show in the same barely-there top.
Luckily for the star, her seriously long hair helped to cover up her ample assets, but she still managed to show off a lot of under-boob.
Probably not knowing quite where to look, Ellen talked about the star's unique dress sense and even presented her with a thong. Er...ok.
Instead of being embarrassed, Nicki was obviously proud of her attire, posting a number of snaps of herself in it to her Instagram page.

FBI releases chilling video of Navy Yard shooter

The gunman who slaughtered 12 people last week in Washington is seen darting through a Navy building like a special forces operator in a chilling video released Wednesday.
The FBI also said analysis of Aaron Alexis's medical history shows he believed he was being controlled or influenced by extremely low frequency, or ELF, electro magnetic waves.
Alexis used a sawed-off shotgun and a handgun in the September 16 massacre at the Washington Navy Yard. Etched into various parts of the shotgun were several phrases, said Valerie Parlave, assistant director of the FBI's Washington field office.
"On the left side were the phrases, quote, 'better off this way,' closed quote and quote, 'my ELF weapon,' closed quote," she told a news conference.
Police eventually shot and killed Alexis but not before the dozen people died in the latest mass shooting to shock America. Four other people were wounded.
Parlave said Alexis, who is not seen opening fire at any point in the footage, apparently had medical issues.

Player misses penalty, immediately scores overhead rebound

Mouscron-Péruwelz maintained their place at the top of the Belgian second division with a 2-1 victory over bottom-placed Hoogstraten VV.
The struggling visitors earned their consolation goal in the 82nd minute thanks to a penalty that was more entertaining and unique than Andrea Pirlo kicking a Panenka with a ball made of snowflakes.
Hoogstraten midfielder Glenn van der Linden shot his spot kick straight at Mouscron-Péruwelz keeperAlexandre Oukidja, but the ball rebounded straight back to him.
Instinctively, the 26-year-old Belgian teed himself up with a volley and dispatched an unstoppable overhead kick into the top corner.

Sturridge’s handball goal proves need for technology that would actually be useful

The Premier League has enthusiastically embraced goal-line technology this season. Never again will there be a goal disallowed - or a phantom goal given - for a ball incorrectly judged to be crossing or not crossing the line.
Trouble is, those sorts of decisions are only really relevant a couple of times a season. It's unusual enough for balls to bounce down onto the line as it is, but incredibly rare for those instances to be the difference between winning and losing. The hoopla surrounding the technology is little short of a joke.  And an incident from Liverpool's clash with Sunderland on Sunday afternoon only served to highlight why the newly-ushered in technology is woefully short of what is actually required.

What do I care when am dead; Femi Kuti

That Nigerian music star, Femi Kuti is a legend cannot be contested. Most legends are remembered in different forms and ways when they finally bow out of this world to join their ancestors.
For Femi Kuti, how he will be remembered when he's dead should not really be an issue. After all, what do a dead man care what the living say or think about him? According to him, it's of no importance for what or how a dead man is remembered.
"I will be dead. If you like forget me, I will be dead," he said; continuing that, "What do I care when I'm dead? Asked Femi when the question was posed to him concerning how or what he wants to be remembered with when he leaves the world.
"I probably would be in Jupiter, Mars in a Jacuzzi. I would have completely forgotten anything like electricity ... no electricity ... no electrical problem in Nigeria. I will forget all the problems of this life, I hope I will go to a very nice planet where it’s peaceful, (there is) love, lots of music, good interaction, no war. You probably would have no electricity (referring to my Nigerian colleague) by the time I'm gone in Nigeria."
"Definitely, corruption (in Nigeria) would be a big deal and I don't know if the global credit crunch would have stopped. Why would I care what you will be thinking about me? I will be dead, don't you understand ... I will be dead." Femi said jokingly, but with a serious face.
The "Bang Bang Bang" singer said he doesn't care how he is remembered, however, reiterates the fact that it does not mean he didn't want to be remembered for his exploits on this Earth.
"I didn't say I don't want to be remembered. If I'm dead, the only reason, if I'm alive somewhere else, that I really want to know about this planet is to make sure my children are well. So if the God or the Creator give me permission to just come back to Earth, do you think I will check on Obasanjo?" He said with laughter.

Ronaldo pleads for hug-fan charges to be dropped

Cristiano Ronaldo has written a letter to Miami's District Attorney asking for trespass charges to be dropped against a fan who ran on to the pitch to hug him.
Real Madrid star Ronaldo humoured 20-year-old fan Ronald Gjoka when he invaded the field of play at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami during a friendly match with Chelsea on August 7.
The incident resulted in an internet sensation, as the fan spent quite some time clinging on to his hero, who happily obliged as security staff panicked around him. You can watch it below:

But the student was arrested and charged with trespass and disorderly conduct, which could see him expelled from college and deported back to his native Albania.
He may face "problems with immigrations and his college if the charges aren't dropped", his attorney Richard Hujber said.
"It is my understanding that he now recognises his error and the importance of security. I do not want to see him face criminal penalties for his error."
Ronaldo, who recently signed a contract to make him the world’s highest-paid player, clearly agrees.
"I understand your position and the importance of enforcing rules and law," Ronaldo wrote in a letter to the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office.
"However, I respectfully request that you and your office reconsider this decision and dismiss the two criminal charges this young man faces."
It does seem a bit harsh for what was a harmless – if epic – example of super-fandom.
And Ronaldo’s act proves yet again that, beneath the playboy exterior, lies a heart of gold.
